St. Lawrence is the patron of cooks and comedians. Martyred in 258 Lawrence was one of the seven deacons of the city of Rome under Pope Sixtus II.
A favorite account of Lawrence's execution is in a moment of levity while being burned on a gridiron Lawrence told his persecutors "You can flip me over now; I'm done on this side."
His courage and humor in the face of martyrdom led to him becoming the patron saint of cooks and comedians.
Some of my saint magnet images are homages to family and friends associated with a particular saint. If this depiction of St. Lawrence looks like a certain Nashville based comedian known for his clean humor and recent viral depiction of George Washington...you are correct!
This apron makes a great gift for anyone who loves to cook and a bit of good humor.
